Understanding the CGPA & SGPA Calculator
In many universities, especially in engineering and technical fields in countries like India, academic performance is measured by SGPA and CGPA on a 10-point scale.
SGPA vs. CGPA
- SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average): This is your weighted average performance for a single semester. It's calculated based on the grades and credits of the courses you took in that semester only.
- CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average): This is the weighted average of all your SGPAs from all semesters you have completed, providing an overall measure of your academic performance to date.
How to Use the Two Calculators
- SGPA Calculator Tab: Use this at the end of a semester. Enter each course you took, your final grade in that course (e.g., O for Outstanding, A+ for Excellent), and the number of credits for that course. The result will be your SGPA for that specific semester.
- CGPA Calculator Tab: Use this to update your overall CGPA after a semester is complete. You will need your previous CGPA, the total credits you had earned *before* this semester, your new SGPA (which you just calculated), and the total credits from the new semester.
