More Information

Using the Standard Calculator

This is a straightforward, easy-to-use calculator for basic arithmetic operations. It behaves like a simple handheld calculator, but with the added benefits of memory functions and a history tape.

Memory Functions

  • MC (Memory Clear): Resets the stored memory value to 0.
  • MR (Memory Recall): Retrieves the value from memory and displays it.
  • M+ (Memory Add): Adds the current number on the display to the value in memory.
  • M- (Memory Subtract): Subtracts the current number on the display from the value in memory.

Order of Operations

It's important to note that this calculator processes operations sequentially as they are entered. It does **not** follow the mathematical order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS).

For example, if you enter 5 + 2 × 3, the calculator will first compute 5 + 2 = 7, and then 7 × 3 = 21.

For calculations that require a specific order of operations (where multiplication should be done before addition), please use our powerful Scientific Calculator, which correctly evaluates such expressions to 11.
