Understanding the Fuel Cost Calculator
This advanced calculator helps you estimate the total cost of a trip for both traditional gasoline/diesel vehicles and modern electric vehicles (EVs). By providing options for global units and currencies, it's a powerful tool for planning any road trip.
For Petrol / Diesel Vehicles
To calculate the cost, you'll need:
- Trip Distance: The total distance of your journey.
- Fuel Efficiency: Your car's fuel consumption rating. We support common global standards:
- MPG (Miles per Gallon): Common in the US.
- L/100km (Liters per 100 kilometers): Common in Europe/Canada. Note: a *lower* number is better.
- km/L (Kilometers per Liter): Common in India, Brazil, and other regions.
- Fuel Cost: The price per gallon or liter in your chosen currency.
For Electric Vehicles (EVs)
To calculate the cost for an EV, you'll need:
- Trip Distance: The total distance of your journey.
- Vehicle Efficiency: Your car's energy consumption. We support:
- miles/kWh (Miles per kilowatt-hour): Common in the US.
- kWh/100km (Kilowatt-hours per 100km): Common in Europe and other regions.
- Electricity Cost: The price per kWh from your home charger or public charging network.
